Council members of the City of Huntington Beach in California, USA, on 7 September 2010 approved a revised environmental impact study for the 50 MGD (189,000 m³/d) seawater desalination plant proposed by Poseidon Resources.
The project still requires a new coastal development permit and an updated agreement with the city, which will consider the project again on 20 September 2010. If the project receives city approval, it will go to the State Lands Commission and the Coastal Commission for consideration.
