FCC Aqualia bags Chile deals

Water management company FCC Aqualia, has won two water supply and purification contracts in Chile's mining and petrochemical industries worth a total of € 27 million (US$ 30.7 million).

Chilean company, Codelco has appointed FCC's water management company to perform groundwater treatment services using a nanofiltration plant for the Ovejería hydraulic barrier in Huechún, metropolitan region.
 
The € 12 million (US$ 13.7 million) contract covers the engineering, construction and commissioning of a 100 l/s nanofiltration plant as well as a 12-year operation and maintenance deal. The aim is to ensure guaranteed quality water intake with a low dissolved salt content.

And FCC is to build a 330 l/s treatment plant at Cadellada to supply the towns of Colina and Batuco north of Santiago de Chile. The € 15 million (US$ 17.1 million) turnkey project, includes the design, equipment, construction, commissioning and temporary operation over a year and a half. Subsequently, the company will offer operational assistance for another year.

The Chile deals are among four Latin American contracts worth a total of € 108 million (US$ 94 million) secured by Aqualia Infraestructuras along with two more contracts deals in Mexico. The company described the wins as "another step forward in the company's diversification and they are proof of our know-how and capacity to take on challenges of diverse natures: providing water services to both the general population and to industry".
 
The, 2,5 year, € 66 million (US$ 58 million) Cutzamala project in Mexicco is to expand the supply grid to the outskirts of Mexico City.  And Mexico's Pemex Gas, and Petroquímica Básicas, has awarded FCC Aqualia the € 15 million (US$ 13 million) renovation work on the intake system in the Mezcalpa River, in the state of Tabasco, which supplies water to the Cactus and Nuevo Pemex gas processing centres.
