Aquatech providing ZLD tech for Mississippi powerplant

Zero-liquid-discharge (ZLD) water and wastewater treatment facilities are to be provided by Aquatech for a 582 MW integrated-gasification combined-cycle powerplant in Kemper County, Mississippi.

Pennsylvania-based Aquatech will design, fabricate, erect and start up a complete make‑up water treatment facility together with wastewater treatment facilities. The system will include a 300 GPM (19 L/s) make-up system, a 700 GPM (44 L/s) mobile ion‑exchange demineralization system, a 2 x 50% 400 GPM (25 L/s) brine concentrator and a 40 GPM (2.5 L/s) forced circulation crystallizer and filter press.

Located near De Kalb, Mississippi, the power plant is owned by Mississippi Power Company. Aquatech, a leader in ZLD, will provide technology to prevent any processed wastewater from this plant being discharged into the environment.
