Aqualia wins SWRO contract in Chile

Spanish company Aqualia has been awarded a contract worth about € 17 million to design and supply seawater reverse-osmosis equipment for a desalination plant in Chile, its first work in that country.

The 30,000 m³/d plant will supply water to the Candelaria copper/gold mine in Chile's 3rd Region. Owners Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold claim that the Candelaria mine is now a leader in water conservation, recovery and recycling in all processes.
