Eric Sabolsice, who worked on commissioning the Tampa Bay desalination plant for American Water, has been appointed general manager for the California American Water division which includes Monterey.

California America Water is experiencing considerable trouble with its proposed desalination project in the Monterey region, which it is promoting with Marina Coast Water District and Monterey Water Resources Agency. It has been ordered to reduce its abstractions from the Carmel river by 2016.

The company announced on 21 December 2012, that Sabolsice had been appointed general manager, coastal division, which includes the cities of Monterey, Seaside, Pacific Grove, Carmel by the Sea, and Del Rey Oaks, as well as the communities of Carmel Valley, Carmel Highlands, Hidden Hills, Ambler Park, Toro, Bishop, Ryan Ranch, Ralph Lane, and Chualar.

Sabolsice has served as the division’s Operations Manager since 2009, and his resume includes over 23 years of water utility experience leading the operation and maintenance of some of the largest and most complex water treatment systems in the US.
